The creation process
Discover the meticulous process behind each unique Grainxzibit wood carving sculpture, from the initial inspiration to the final, stunning piece. Each sculpture is hand-crafted with passion in Paraparaumu Beach, New Zealand.

Finding the Soul of the Wood
The journey begins with finding the right piece of driftwood, one that "speaks" to the artist. Emphasis is placed on accentuating its natural form, maintaining a balance between negative and positive space. Showcasing the beauty of the natural grain and timber is paramount, maximizing its depth and character.

Shaping the Vision
Design factors are carefully considered before any carving begins. The bulk of unwanted material is removed with a chainsaw, then the form is shaped using a grinder, chisels, and other power tools. A gas torch, sandpaper, and various oils are used to achieve the final finish, highlighting the wood's natural beauty.

The Stages of Creation
The time required to complete a sculpture varies depending on its size and complexity. The process involves several key stages: Sourcing the wood, designing the sculpture, shaping the form, adding intricate details, and applying the final finish. Each stage requires careful attention and expertise to bring the artist's vision to life.
